ELIZABETH LOUISA VENTRIS was Daniel Dee Hydes first wife, She was born at Rotherhithe Surrey England to John Ellis and Sarah nee Munro Ventris on 4 January 1833. Elizabeth was christened at St Mary’s church in Rotherhithe on 27 January 1883. Elizabeth came to Australia on the 20 may 1853 on the " Earl Grey" she was aged 20. Daniel and Elizabeth got married on 23 February 1857 in Castlemaine Vic Australia. Daniel and Elizabeth had 3 children

2 Henry John b 29 march 1860 d 24 October 1926 (66 years )
3 Daniel Dee b 21 march 1862 d 17 September 1914 (52 years )


William married Margaret Francis Cornes on 18 July 1883 in St Paul’s church Auckland. William was accidentally killed while cutting timber when a log he was cutting rolled over him. They had 9 children
Henry John married in Hamilton New Zealand on the 31 March 1880 to Catherine Eliza Roberts. They also had a large family having 12 children Henry worked as a labourer, a roadwork overseer and a mine manager and contractor .He is buried in the Hamilton West Cemetery
Daniel Dee was adopted and lived in Australia, becoming William Fredrick Crowley.
His adopted parents were Eliza and Frederick Crowley He married Margaret Elizabeth Somerville on the 27 July 1887 in Kyneton Victoria Australia. They had 8 children


On 17 November 1863 Elizabeth died at the Castelmaine Hospital, from phthisis pulmonalis TB which she had for about 6 month, she was hospitalised for 47 days prior to her death. She was buried 18 November 1863, her grave is a unmarked plot in the Castlemaine Cemetery, she left a husband and 3 children












A few years ago relatives got together and purchased a plaque to place on Elizabeth Louisa's last resting place in Castlemaine, Victoria.The two names in the lower right hand corner of the plaque are of two men, unrelated, who were later buried in the same grave - the plaque had to include them for legal reasons.
